Week 2 · Session 1 · about 20 minutes

Let's blend!

  1. 1

    Connect

Play “I spy” with things that start with /a/.

  2. 2

    Teach

Model tapping each sound in “cat,” then slide them together.

  3. 3

    Practice together

Take turns tapping and blending 5 picture cards.

  4. 4

    Try independently

Your child blends 4 new cards while you listen.

  5. 5

    Check & celebrate

Note how much help was needed and celebrate one win.

What to say

"Touch a dot for each sound: /c/ /a/ /t/. Now slide your finger fast—what word?"
